Research Centre for Child Psychiatry

Mental health is a continuum starting from the foetal period. It is based on interaction between individuals and their biological and social environment and is constantly affected by various risk and protective factors. The identification of early biological and psychosocial risk factors provides important information about the potential causes of mental health disturbances as well as keys to the development of selective interventions focused on children at risk. The goals of our centre are

  1. to study etiology of mental health disorders with major public health impact and provide the basis for further studies of gene-environment interactions
  2. to study developmental trajectories, the natural course and time trend changes of child and adolescent mental health
  3. to develop and study effectiveness of early interventions for children at risk.
