THE USE OF PSYCHOTROPIC MEDICATION OF ADOLESCENTS IN FINLAND IN THE YEARS 1995-2003The aim of this study is to investigate the use of various psychotropic medication of 13-22-years-old adolescents in Finland from 1995 to 2003. The statistical data on the use of psychotropic drugs are obtained from the refund registry of Social Insurance Institution of Finland and the Finnish Statistics on Medicines. This study documents the use of various types of antidepressants, antipsychotics, anxiolytics and stimulants in the age-groups of 13-15, 16-18 and 19-22 nationwide, and determines whether the Finnish prescribing practices correspond with the previously reported figures from other countries, for example from the United States.
