Undergraduate medical education
During the training period in otolaryngology, the medical students work five weeks at our department. During that time, 46 one hour lectures and practical training during 82 hours in groups of about 10 students are given. After the teaching period in otolaryngology, every student will be able to perform maxillary sinus lavage, myringotomy, otomicroscopy, tympanometry, treatment of nasal bleeding, and to confirm diagnosis of maxillary sinusitis with ultra sound device. After the theoretical and practical training, every student will make a practical and theoretical examination in otorhinolaryngology. An optional practical course of 1 week is also aveilable for students in every May and December.
Special strengths:
A straight personal contact with between medical students and the ENT-patients. Medical students have the possibility to practice medical skills personally with real patiens under the supervision of the senior teachers. The whole personnel of the clinic have an enthusiastic and highly positive attitude towards teaching, most of the patients are also very co-operative to teaching procedures.
Graduate studies
7 resident positions. Residents are working in clinical work for 5 years, out of which usually 2,5 years in a University clinic. The residents work under the supervision of a tutor that is a specialist of the clinic.

During the post graduate training at the department, the residents will get theoretical education in methodology, epidemiology, statistics, theory of sciences and ethics. A comprehensive personal guidance by 1-3 senior instructions is given during the scientific before publication of doctoral thesis.
