A large series of permanent head and neck cancer cell lines have been recently established by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery in the facilities of Medical Biochemistry at Turku University. The focus of interest in the research has been radio- and chemosensitivity as well as prognostic factors in head and neck cancer. These results, the cell lines, the corresponding fresh and paraffin embedded tumor material and the well documented clinical information of these patients form a basis for present collaborative work with several groups in Finland and abroad.
