Clinical decision-making in nursing -research
The Department of Nursing Science has long traditions in studying decision-making in nursing. Clinical decision-making research projects have developed theoretical frameworks for clinical judgement processes and nursing decision-making instruments measuring nurses' decision-making models. During the last four years the research has moved towards developing electronic nursing documentation and information technology to support nursing and multiprofessional decision-making. The present research interests include:
• developing nursing decision-making theory
• developing instruments for measuring nursing decision-making and judgement
• developing methods of analysing and synthetizing knowledge for decision-making
• developing clinical information and language technology solutions for patients and health care professionals to support their decision-making (strategic, tactical, operational and clinical decision-making)
IKITIK (Information and language technology for health information and communication) consortium’s aim is to support producing and using health information and communication by developing innovative, intelligent, state-of-the-art clinical information and language technology solutions. To assure quality, solutions are developed in interdisciplinary and international collaboration combining nursing science, information technology and language technology in an innovative way.
