Degrees in Nursing Science
The degrees of the Bachelor of Nursing Science (180 credits) and the Master of Nursing Science (120 credits) are two separate degrees. When studying at the department of the nursing science in the University of Turku, your main subject is a nursing science. The nursing science is a health scientific discipline which studies taking care of the human being. The central objective is the understanding and developing of basic values, information foundation and skill foundation of the learning and teaching of the care practices and care.
The degrees include one of the following minor subjects:
- Didactics in nursing science and basic studies of education science or adult education science, or
- Gerontological nursing science and administration and management in health care, or
- Clinical nursing science and the administration and management in health care
The graduated Bachelors of Nursing Science and Masters of Nursing Science have readiness in creative, scientifically justifying tasks of the health field, for example as the leaders of the nursing and in the different expert tasks. Furthermore, the teacher training produces the competence for the acting as the teacher in the polytechnics and in other educational institutions of health care and social services. The Masters of Nursing Science are well placed in the working life.
Studying at the Department of the Nursing science
The degree of the Bachelor of Nursing Science takes 1-1,5 years and the Master's degree takes three years (including the Bachelor degree). The studies consist of lectures, seminars, essays, network learning and practical training.
Also the studying abroad is possible.
