Course title and Code: MEDI0310 Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine
Duration: 11 weeks:
Autumn term: September - November
Spring Term: January - March 
Curricular position: C 10 (5th year, Spring term)(Clinical studies)
Language of instruction: English
Content: Lectures, patient seminars, workshops, tutormeetings, ward rounds and inpatient teaching, outpatient clinic, night duty (voluntary), self-study, examinations.
Aims: The goal of the student in this course is 1) to learn the normal growth and development of a child, 2) to be able to diagnose and treat the most common abnormal conditions, diseases and accidents in children and adolescents, and, when appropriate, forward the patient for consultation with a specialist, and 3) to learn the most important procedures and therapeutic measures for children.

An additional goal for the international students is to learn about the features and policies of the Finnish National Health Services e.g. about school health care.

Prerequisites:

Clinical studies in adults (approximately 4 years of medical studies)

Examination:

Entrance examination, intermediary examination, and final examination.
