Admission to University of Turku, Faculty of Medicine

 

Prerequisites:

Licentiate in Medicine/ Dentistry:

  • The applicant has completed his/her secondary education and holds a school-leaving certificate which qualifies him/her to enter an institution of higher education which is considered to be of the same standard as University of Turku in his/her home country
  • He/ she is fluent in Finnish

Bachelor/ Master of Health Sciences (Nursing Sciences):

  • the applicant holds a diploma of nursing which qualifies him/ her to enter an institution of higher education which is considered to be of the same standard as University of Turku in his/her home country
  • He/ she is fluent in Finnish.

Master Programme in Health Biosciences, Main Subject Drug Development:

  • The applicant has completed his/her Bachelor of Science which qualifies him/her to enter an institution of higher education, which is considered to be of the same standard as the University of Turku in his/her home country
  • He/ she is fluent in Finnish

 

Application deadline for the degree studies of the academic year 2010 - 2011 is April 16th 2010 at 16.15 Finnish time. Application material is only in Finnish.

Entrance exam is held only in Finnish (or Swedish) and it is compulsory for all the applicants. There is no possibility to make any exceptions in this matter.

The language of education is Finnish.

 

Master's Degree Programme in Biomedical Imaging

Master's Degree Programme in Biomedical Imaging will start in September 2010. The two year programme is jointly administered by the two universities in Turku, the University of Turku and the Åbo Akademi University. The Master´s Degree Programme in Biomedical Imaging aims to train professionals that will have a thorough understanding of diverse imaging technologies along with practical skills in a wide range of imaging methods and applications. Both Finnish and foreign students who have completed a lower university degree equivalent to a Finnish B.Sc. degree are welcome to apply for the programme. The education is given in English.

Faculty of Medicine doesn't offer any scholarships so the student must find the funding beforehand by him/herself.

Students accepted to degree studies at a Finnish university will be issued a visa/residence permit after showing that their own funds or a scholarship will cover living expenses in Finland. According to the Directorate of Immigration the needed sum is 6 000 euros before arrival in Finland. This deposit will be at the student's disposal while studying in Finland. A new deposit is required at the beginning of each new academic year. More information: Finnish Immigration Service.
