Faculty of Medicine / University of Turku offers academic education based on high quality and high-standard multidisciplinary research. The Faculty has a unique profile among the Finnish Medical Faculties, since it hosts several Master’s degree programmes (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing Science, Health Bioscience and Bioimaging) allowing productive multidisciplinary collaboration within the Faculty. This can be considered as a special strength for the educational programmes in terms of joint resources and fruitful learning environment for the students. The Faculty is also internationally known and recognised for its research. It has broad spectrum and extensive international contacts in science. High-standard, multi- and interdisciplinary research forms the basis of the Faculty´s activities, and education and societal impact of the Faculty are built on this basis.
Centre of Excellence in University Education 2010-2012
Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council (FINHEEC) has designated the Faculty of Medicine / University of Turku as a Centre of Excellence in University Education for 2010-2012. The decision will be used as a basis for the allocation of performance-based funding for the next three-year performance agreement period. The aim is to enhance the quality and relevance of education and to encourage the unit to carry out long-term development.
